Golf Trout Tournament​​​

Golf Trout 2021 raised over $50,000 for the benefit of the Yampa River. 

Golf Trout 2022 raised over $42,000 for the benefit of the Yampa River and the Butcherknife Creek Project.

Join us September 8, 9, and10, 2023 for the 20th Annual Golf Trout Tournament, in beautiful Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
The Yampa Valley Stream Improvement Charitable Trust and the Yampa Valley Fly Fishers Chapter of TU, are excited to announce the dates for the 20th Annual Golf Trout Tournament will be September 8, 9, and 10, 2023.

Why do we do this?
The Yampa Valley Stream Improvement Charitable Trust (YVSICT) in cooperation with the Yampa Valley Fly Fishers chapter of Trout Unlimited (TU) invite you to beautiful Steamboat Springs and the Yampa Valley to join a three day fund raising tournament. YVSICT and TU are 501(c)(3) charitable organizations benefiting the improvement and preservation of cold water fisheries in the Yampa Valley of Northwest Colorado since 1982.

A busy weekend of Events
Friday
The annual Golf Trout Tournament begins with registration Friday evening and cocktail reception and appetizers at Catamount Lake House.

Following refreshments there will be bidding on private water for Saturday’s fishing event. Teams will be paired with their guide to determine equipment needs and fishing strategies for the next day.

Saturday 
Saturday begins a full day of fully guided fly fishing on some of the finest trout water in Northwest Colorado. Teams will be scored for the most trout, biggest trout, most species of trout, and for completing such tasks as catching a trout on a dry fly, nymph, and with a streamer.

Dinner at Three Peaks Grill, at 6:00 p.m. teams, guides, spouses and guests assemble for score tally, libations, dinner, and recap of the fishing portion of the tournament. 

Sunday 
On Sunday the teams and their guides will play 18 holes of golf. Golf begins with a shotgun start, best ball format, with all the traditional “opportunities” to make or lose money along the way. Mulligans will be available all three days until tee time. Weekend events conclude with the presentation of the awards and prizes.
